As the newly elected Member of Provincial Parliament for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, Steve Pinsonneault
has hit the ground running since his victory in the provincial by-election on May 2, 2024. Representing the Progressive Conservative Party, MPP Pinsonneault brings a wealth of experience in civic politics, public service, and community involvement to his new role.

A Diverse Background

MPP Pinsonneault has transitioned to Queen’s Park from municipal politics after 17 years on the Chatham-Kent council. He first joined municipal politics with the intent to stop Chatham-Kent from closing the public library in his hometown of Thamesville, stating, “I thought ‘if you wanted to be part of the solution, you have to be in a position to do that.’”

But MPP Pinsonneault’s career extends beyond politics. For 32 years, he has been a volunteer firefighter, demonstrating his commitment to the safety and well-being of his community. He’s also been a lifelong member of various local organizations and community groups.

Moreover, Pinsonneault’s experience as a small business owner adds another layer to his understanding of the community he serves. Running an auto repair and signage business in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex has given him firsthand insight into the challenges faced by local entrepreneurs. This experience has fueled his passion for creating a supportive environment for businesses to thrive, recognizing their critical role in the local economy.

First Month on The Job

Since stepping into the role of MPP just over one month ago, Pinsonneault has been meeting with constituents, businesses, and organizations all over the region, extending greetings, introductions, and listening to their concerns. He has already hosted several town hall meetings to maintain the open communication that he values. Pinsonneault has also proposed new legislation aimed at providing tax incentives for small businesses, which he believes are the backbone of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex’s
economy. Additionally, he is working closely with healthcare professionals to identify and address gaps in mental health services, ensuring that everyone has access to necessary care.

Another accomplishment of Pinsonneault’s is his recent appointment as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Rural Affairs, Lisa Thompson. This role is particularly beneficial for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex,
a predominantly rural riding.

Looking Forward

As the new MPP, Pinsonneault is set on course to bolster local businesses, improve rural infrastructure, and elevate community services in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex. His vision is to cultivate a thriving economic center and foster a resilient community spirit. With his extensive background and proactive stance, he is prepared to lead initiatives that directly address the specific needs of his constituents. Pinsonneault’s commitment promises a bright future for the region.
