SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX - The Municipality received its Chief Administrative Officer’s Quarterly Update for the fourth quarter of 2025 during its January 14 council meeting, offering councillors an overview of municipal operations, capital projects, and departmental activity over the final months of last year.
Presenting the report, CAO Amanda Gubbels explained that the document provides an overview of municipal operations and key initiatives undertaken during the fourth quarter of 2025, including updates on capital projects carried over from both 2024 and 2025.
The report detailed progress across several municipal departments, including administration, finance, fire and emergency services, planning, recreation, and public works. Highlights included the completion of multiple infrastructure projects, the advancement of financial planning initiatives, and continued compliance with legislated health, safety, and emergency management requirements.
Council discussion on the report was brief. Martin Vink raised a question related to the fire department’s community fundraising efforts, noting that the report referenced the Glencoe Station’s annual boot drive, which raised $3,225 for Muscular Dystrophy Canada. Vink pointed out that the Wardsville Fire Station has historically played a significant role in similar fundraising activities.
Responding, Gubbels acknowledged the contribution of both stations. “Both of our fire stations do a great job with fundraising and supporting our communities,” she said, explaining that the report focused on activities that took place specifically during the fourth quarter. She added that volunteer efforts from both stations are valued and recognized by the municipality.
The quarterly update also outlined preparations for 2026, including finalizing the municipal budget, beginning implementation of service delivery improvements approved by council, and launching capital projects early to secure favourable pricing.
With no further questions from council, the quarterly update was received as information. The report offered a snapshot of municipal activity at the close of 2025, setting the context for budget deliberations and operational priorities moving into 2026.
