SPORTS - The Komoka Kings are looking to next year, after finishing out of the running for a playoff spot this season.
The Kings ended the 2025-2026 season with 16 and 31 win-loss record, putting them just one spot ahead of the last place Sarnia Legionnaires in the GOHL Western Conference. “It was a very competitive season. We are in a very tough conference and every team is good and you have to bring your best every game every night,” says Kings President Roop Chanderdat. “We were disappointed that we did not make the playoffs but not from a lack of preparation and effort. We had a very young team and their growth and development were exciting to see throughout the season,” adds Chanderdat.
Chanderdat says there were a number of bright spots in the season. “Some of the high points were seeing our young players develop and having 4 of our players play in the OHL this year – 2 for London Knights and 2 for Saginaw Spirit,” says Chanderdat.
Preparations for next season begin with exit meetings with current players. In May, the Kings will be hosting a spring camp for prospects at the Komoka Wellness Centre. Along the way there will be meetings and scouting potential players.
“We want to thank our fans for their support, it is greatly appreciated and we look forward to seeing them next year,” says Chanderdat. “We also want to thank our sponsors and community partners for their support and assistance this season. Also, a big shoutout to our volunteers who work tirelessly in the background to make sure everything runs smoothly on game days,” adds Chanderdat.
