DELAWARE - They revved their engines for another racing season at Delaware Speedway. Opening weekend took place May 8th and 9th.
The Delaware Speedway draws an average of 2,000 spectators for regular events and 3,500 for special events. “Besides our 5 local divisions, Modifieds, Bone Stocks, V8 Stocks, Super Stocks and Late Models we feature some of the best travelling series in North America such as The APC Late Model Series, Dayco Super Stock Series, ISMA/MSS Super Modifieds, NASCAR Canada Series, Must See Racing Sprint Cars, OSCAAR and Ontario Sportsman,” says Director of Motorsports Alex Nagy.
Camping was available to arrange on dates from opening weekend to the Great Canadian Race weekend. Fans could watch familiar favorites as well as some new events. “Must See Racing Asphalt Sprint Car Tour and a 3rd APC Late Model Series race,” says Nagy.
As always, Fridays were a popular draw with 60 to 70 cars in the pit area. Nagy says there are a number of reasons the Speedway remains a fan favorite. “Family friendly, good food and drinks, incredible community atmosphere and a lot of excitement. Same for the drivers/teams plus Delaware is the largest oval track operating in Canada (1/2 mile long),” says Nagy.
“Friday night racing had the gates opening at 6 pm with Saturday special events around 2 pm,” says Nagy.
