MIDDLESEX CENTRE - A report outlining how much was paid last year to Middlesex Centre members of council and Board appointees went before council at its March 11th meeting.
Under the heading remuneration including benefits, a total of $228,124 was paid out to members of council in 2025. Mayor Aina DeViet received $47,089, followed by Deputy Mayor John Brennan at $38,834 and Ward 4 councillor Sue Cates at $34,708. The report notes for this three council members remuneration includes $7,836 for benefits. For the remaining members of council, including Jean Coles, Hugh Aerts, Wayne Shipley and Frank Berze, the amount was $26,872 in all cases.
The report also outlines how much was paid to municipal board members. The totals were $630 for the six-member of the Community Services Advisory Committee, and $1,025 for the five-member Cemetery Board.
The report also notes: “The Municipality occasionally provides meals to Council and staff before or after meetings or training sessions. These meal expenses are not included in this report, nor are any payments made to Council for these meals. In 2025, the total cost for these meals was $2,228.55”.
