I am often asked, “Did you ever imagine the market would turn into THIS?” If I’m honest with them, my answer is yes. For some reason, from the beginning, the vision was big. However, what I didn’t realize was that it was going to take so many different players to make it happen and to keep it going. I didn’t realize how many people I would need to say, “Hey, I can help you with that?”
In reality, that is what the whole market community thrives on – relationships. I have come to know so many people who consider first how they can be a help to others or WHO they can get that product from (instead of only considering what is the fastest, easiest, or cheapest). One of my favourite examples of this is market vendors who walk through the market with bulk orders from other vendors. These business owners make a conscious choice to work with the people, the seasons, and the land around them. They recognize that the cheapest sale option can be expensive in ways that are not always considered.
Customers are weighing the same options when they choose where to spend their dollar. They realize that buying local is an investment in their own community. When many people begin to realize this, it has a MAJOR IMPACT. Hey! We are doing it! Let’s celebrate that!

See you Saturday.
