DELAWARE - The sounds of summer are upon us, as they’re revving the engines at Delaware Speedway in Middlesex Centre for another season.
The 72nd season opener took place on Friday May 10th, with four feature races of V8 Stock, Bone Stock, and Super Stock as well as Late Models circling the track for 25 and 35 laps. Many more events are scheduled throughout the 2024 season to appeal to a wide range of racing fans. “We get well over 100 cars registered with all the divisions,” says Race Director Dave Graham.
Highlights in the upcoming months include the ever-popular Monster Trucks that will be at the Speedway July 28th and 29th. June 28 and Sept 6 will feature Dayco Super Stocks along with OSCAAR Modifieds & Hot Rods And on June 29 and Sept 7 APC United Late Models OSCAAR Modifieds & Hot
Rods take to the track. NASCAR Canada returns to Delaware Speedway on August 27th.
It’s is one of the oldest continuously operating tracks in Canada with stock car racing every Friday night during the season. “Delaware Speedway is the fasted paved half mile oval in Ontario, it has a history that goes from generation to generation,” says Graham.
The Speedway continues to attract new generations of fans including spectators and those who are part of the racing “family”. “A lot of our drivers are younger and their teams are family and friends. This tends to fill the stands with a wide age range,” says Graham.
Located on Gideon Dr., Delaware Speedway offers grandstand and lawn chair seating. Camping is also available.
The race season continues well into September. A highlight capping off the season is the Great Canadian Race Weekend that takes place September 6th and 7th.
