LUCAN - Langford Lumber, a cornerstone of the Lucan community, is gearing up for a grand reopening slated for June 20-22. The event promises to reintroduce the hardware centre with a fresh aesthetic, special offers, and engaging activities for the local community.
Owned by Jenny and Brad Roth since 2019, Langford Lumber has continued to evolve while staying true to its roots in Lucan and the broader community. The upcoming reopening not only celebrates the store’s recent renovations but also marks five years of the Roth’s stewardship, which began just months
before the unforeseen challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a recent interview, Jenny Roth shared insights into the journey they have undertaken since acquiring the store. The Roth’s, both with deep ties to the area, have navigated the challenges of maintaining supply during the pandemic, ensuring community support, and integrating modern retail trends with traditional values.
“We think it’s a great business model,” Roth explained. “We own our land, our building, and the inventory. There are no franchise fees. It runs like a cooperative, which really suited us.”
The decision to take over Langford Lumber was backed by their confidence in their existing management teams at their other stores, including Sam’s Home Hardware and St. Mary’s Home Building Centre. Their approach blends Brad’s background in hardware and building retail with Jenny’s expertise in sales, marketing, and operational management, creating a resilient business model that reflects the community-driven spirit of Lucan.
Jenny Roth also highlighted the integral role the community has played in their success. “Our customers and our community come first,” she stated, underscoring their commitment to customer service and community involvement. Langford Lumber is a familiar name not just in Lucan but also in nearby London, with a legacy of trust and quality.
Their community initiatives are extensive, including sponsorship of local sports teams and support for various local events and causes. Such efforts have solidified their reputation as a pillar of community support, something the Roths are proud of and committed to continuing.
As for the future, Jenny Roth is optimistic. “There are many changes to the Lumber and Building industry on the horizon,” she noted, mentioning potential growth in engineered building materials and sustainable practices. “We’re also looking to expand our services, including a new design centre to better serve our customers’ needs.”
The grand reopening event itself is designed to be a celebration of both the store’s new chapter and its enduring commitment to the community. Attendees can look forward to DIY games, exclusive offers, and delicious food, including smoked meats from a Traeger specialist.
As Langford Lumber Home Hardware Building Centre prepares for its grand reopening, it’s clear that the Roths aim not only to serve their community through business but also to continue building a legacy that supports and uplifts the local community. This event is more than just a celebration; it’s a reaffirmation of Langford Lumber’s commitment to Lucan and a showcase of what’s to come.
