STRATHROY - As the Strathroy Hometown Festival gears up for another exciting weekend from June 14-16, 2024, at Alexandra Park, Shari Terwilligar, the Festival Chair and Logistics, reflects on her eight-year journey with this cherished community event. “It’s been amazing,” Shari shares, emphasizing the continuous enhancement of the festival with new attractions and vendors each year.

The festival not only showcases local talents and entertainers but also fosters community unity through a range of family-oriented activities. “We try to appeal to very different age groups,” says Shari, highlighting the inclusivity of the event. From car shows on Friday night to bike rodeos and a full schedule of live music, the festival promises diverse attractions for all attendees.

Weather poses a significant challenge, impacting outdoor setups, but contingency plans are in place for moving some activities indoors if needed. Despite these obstacles, the festival has sustained strong relationships with local vendors, suppliers, and sponsors, evolving into a “community family,” according to Shari. This close-knit collaboration has turned the festival operations into a well-oiled machine, especially important during times like the COVID-19 pandemic when the festival was replaced by community support activities like local food drives.

Looking forward to this year’s festival, Shari enthusiastically invites everyone to join in the celebration. The event features everything from a new breakfast hosted by the local Legion to a pickleball tournament for those over 50, and much more. Mainstage entertainment includes bands like The Doubts, The Fish and Nightrain, a North American Guns and Roses cover band, promising lively nights filled with music.

Shari passionately invites everyone to experience the “hometown hospitality” that Strathroy is known for. “Bring your family, bring your rocking shoes,” she encourages, promising a diverse lineup of activities for everyone.

This year’s festival is not just a celebration of local culture and community spirit but also a testament to the resilience and adaptability of its organizers and participants. Whether you’re a car enthusiast, a music lover, or just looking to enjoy a weekend filled with fun and festivities, the Strathroy Hometown Festival is the place to be.
