MIDDLESEX CENTRE - The summer construction season is in full swing in Middlesex Centre. A major reconstruction of Glendon Dr. that involves putting in a roundabout is the most notable of the projects. That involved a complete shutdown of the intersection of Glendon Dr., Vanneck Rd., Jeffries Rd. and Coldstream Rd. on June 24th to allow for hydro polls to be relocated. A power outage, impacting about 100 nearby residents was also expected during the day. After the hydro work is completed, the next step involves putting out tenders, with work on the roundabout expected to begin later this summer. Road reconstruction is also underway on Hyde Park Rd. from 15 Mile Rd. to Elginfield Rd. Work began in early June and the expected completion date is August 16th. Road work includes tree trimming, widening, as well as new asphalt surfaces and pavement marking. During the construction, that area of Hyde Park Rd. will be closed, allowing only local traffic access to properties. Repairs and upgrades are being carried out at the Delaware Community Centre’s parking lot. As well as replacements and upgrades to surface areas of the parking lot, the project includes new pickleball court lines and the installation of nets for pickleball posts. The project involves the closure of the parking lot for three weeks, with a tentative date for reopening in mid-July. Project costs are pegged at $158.500 for the new asphalt and sports court and $36,200 for the security gate and installation.
