LUCAN - The much-anticipated Lucan Summerfest made a grand return this year, bringing joy and excitement to the community from July 19th to 20th.
The weekend kicked off on Friday evening with the introduction of a new feature: the All-Ages Silent Disco. Held from 7 pm to 10 pm at the Lucan Biddulph Community Memorial Centre, this unique event allowed attendees to dance to their favorite tunes through wireless headphones. With DJ Dave spinning a variety of genres, including pop, rock, and country, the Silent Disco offered an unforgettable experience for dancers of all ages.
Saturday morning brought the highly anticipated Car Show & Shine, held from 9 am to 2 pm in the West Parking Lot. Presented by Goldie Innovative Technologies, the Car Show featured a stunning array of vehicles, from classic cars to modern marvels.
Throughout the day, festival-goers were treated to a host of exciting attractions. HGTV’s Carver Kings captivated attendees with their impressive carving demonstrations, scheduled throughout the day. The Ultimutts Dog Stunt Show was back with performances, showcasing incredible feats of agility and skill by talented canine performers. Additionally, Kobbler Jay wowed the crowd with his classic variety-style circle show.
The event also featured live music, with local bands Gravity Wagon, South of 7, and Highway 21 taking the stage at the Lucan Biddulph Community Memorial Centre. Attendees enjoyed an evening of great tunes under the stars, with lawn chairs encouraged for a comfortable and relaxed experience. In addition to the concert, the festival offered busker shows, providing additional live entertainment throughout the day.
For families and children, the festival included a Kidzone area, paddleboat rides for children under seven, and the Touch-A-Truck event featuring Fire, EMS, and OPP vehicles. These activities provided interactive and educational experiences for younger attendees. Food trucks and merchandise vendors offered a wide range of delicious treats and unique souvenirs, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy.
In addition to these highlights, the festival featured free public skating and swimming, allowing attendees to cool off and have fun in the water. The Ontario Clean Water Agency supported the event by providing a water buggy and free water bottles, helping everyone stay hydrated throughout the weekend.
The organizers expressed their gratitude to the community and sponsors, acknowledging their crucial role in the festival’s success. The enthusiastic support from attendees and partners made Lucan Summerfest 2024 a memorable event for all involved.
