As the summer days fade and we prepare for a busy fall season, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible progress we’ve made together over the past few months. From community gatherings to important discussions on infrastructure, local business growth, and various rural matters, it has been a productive and rewarding summer for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.
Community Involvement & Listening to Your Concerns
This summer, my top priority has been connecting with residents across our beautiful riding. Whether attending community events or having sit-down meetings, the conversations I’ve had with so many of you have highlighted the issues that matter most to our community. Hearing directly from you continues to shape how I approach my role at Queen’s Park, ensuring that rural voices are heard loud and clear.
I’ve had the privilege of meeting many of you at events across Lambton-Kent-Middlesex. From the Glencoe Tractor Pull and the Grain Farmers of Ontario event to the Middlesex Cattlemen’s Association summer BBQ, each visit has deepened my appreciation for our community’s rural roots. I also had the opportunity to learn more about the innovative work in renewable energy at Stanton Farms and the Twin Creeks Environmental Centre. Celebrating Ailsa Craig’s 150th anniversary and enjoying the Strathroy Hometown Festival showcased just how special our local events are. Additionally, visiting Strathroy Middlesex Hospital and meeting with the Middlesex-London Health Unit gave me a firsthand look at the dedication of our healthcare professionals.
These experiences, along with your voices, continue to guide how I advocate for our community at Queen’s Park.
Significant Funding and Support for our Community Services
Since I began representing you as MPP, I’m proud to say we’ve seen considerable provincial investments in our riding. The Partner Facility Renewal Program brought essential funding to Crest Support Services in Lucan, the Women’s Rural Resource Centre in Strathroy, and Community Living in Wallaceburg. The nearly $67,000 in funding will help improve services and ensure our community organizations continue to meet the needs of local residents.
We also secured nearly $500,000 through the Housing Enabling Water Systems Fund to support the Municipality of Middlesex Centre, enabling over 1,400 housing units. This funding will ensure that critical water infrastructure is in place to support both new and existing developments, strengthening our communities and driving economic growth.
In addition, we’ve seen multiple Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) Capital Grants awarded to key organizations in our riding. The SARI Therapeutic Riding program received $150,000, and the Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre was awarded $136,400 to enhance their facilities. Contact House in Forest, Lambton Centre, and the Rotary Club of Dresden received $137,600, $152,600, and $19,300, respectively. These grants will help these organizations continue delivering the services and programs that make our communities stronger.
