AILSA CRAIG - North Middlesex’s first-ever annual Wedding Show, held on February 2 at the Ailsa Craig Recreation Centre, exceeded expectations with 35 vendors and 150 attendees flocking to the event. Organized by Economic Development Officer Felicia Krista, the event received positive feedback from both local businesses and residents, highlighting the growing interest in community-centered events.
Felicia Krista, Economic Development & Communications Coordinator, was thrilled with the outcome of the show. “So, this is our first annual North Middlesex Wedding Show. We are hoping this will become an annual event around this time of year—late January or early February. This year, we sold out of vendor spots—35 vendors in total, from a wide variety of industries, which is fantastic. Many of them are local to North Middlesex,” she said.
The Wedding Show, which featured a wide range of vendors offering everything from florists and photographers to caterers and event planners, showcased the incredible talent and services available within the community.
Krista was particularly proud of the show’s accessibility, as attendees enjoyed free admission and were able to take part in raffles for various door prizes. “It’s been a great opportunity for local businesses to promote themselves and interact with potential clients in a relaxed environment,” she added. “We also wanted to showcase the fantastic facilities that North Middlesex has to offer for weddings, and hopefully, this event will encourage partnerships between our local vendors and people planning their big day.”
The idea for the event came about after discussions between Krista and Brandon Drew, Director of Economic Development & Community Services. “We were talking about creating a signature event for North Middlesex that would showcase the wonderful businesses we have in the area,” Krista explained. “We realized there wasn’t a wedding show within our region—most people had to travel to London for that sort of thing. But we wanted something that was unique to our small town, something that captured the spirit of North Middlesex. The Wedding Show seemed like the perfect fit.”
With the success of the first annual Wedding Show, Krista and her team are already planning for next year, with hopes of making it an even bigger and better event. “We are definitely excited about the future of this event and the potential it has to grow. It’s all about supporting our local businesses and showing the world what North Middlesex has to offer,” Krista said.
