ILDERTON - The Ilderton Pet Hospital is celebrating a milestone. It’s been 20 years since the clinic opened. Since 2005, it’s seen a lot of changes in veterinary medicine. “So much has changed,” says Dr. Kim Anderka who owns the clinic together with Dr. Christina Douthwaite. Changes in veterinary medicine include advances in everything from pet dentistry to diagnostics. “Whether it’s new technology or the use of digital imaging and ultrasound,” says Anderka.
What’s remained consistent over the years, is the commitment to excellence in care and compassion.
As the community has grown, so too has the Ilderton Pet Hospital. In 2020 a new hospital was built on the original site to provide a fully accessible facility with greater capacity and advanced treatment equipment. “It’s been one of the great joys for us in the last five years is growing that much,” says Anderka.
Community involvement is a cornerstone of the practice. The Ilderton Pet Hospital supports a number of community initiatives including the Ilderton Fair Pet show, local and provincial animal shelters and rescue organizations. They are also strong supporters of the Farley Foundation and Pet trust. As part of the 20th anniversary, the Ilderton Pet Hospital donated $1,000 to local service clubs.
Looking to the future, Dr. Anderka say veterinary medicine is always making advances. Among the most recent accomplishments has been the advent of telemedicine for consultations.
