ILDERTON – They are getting ready to kick off the outdoor soccer season in Ilderton. “Some of our competitive teams will be training as soon as the fields are dry! The season for our competitive program will kick off the week of May 12 and our local league U4, U6, and U8 teams will start their seasons the week after Victoria Day in May,” says President of the Ilderton & District Soccer Club, Joannah Campbell.
Registration closed at the end of February, and at that time 462 players were set to join the season. That includes both younger players as well as adults. “For the 2025 season, Ilderton will have seven Tier 1 teams, four Tier 2 teams, and three Tier 3 teams,” says Campbell. Ilderton is also home to an elite training squad of U15 (2010) girls who play in the regional I-Model program. These girls have seen tremendous success in recent years and are the team to watch!,” adds Campbell.
Soccer has been growing in popularity, which is no doubt helped by the recent successes of the Canadian national teams and the upcoming 2026 World Cup. “We have between 460-500 players year-to-year which supports a thriving local league,” says Campbell.
As the incoming president of the club, Campbell is looking forward to continued success. “The primary goal of Ilderton and District Soccer Club is to foster a safe, fun, and welcoming place for local players to participate in the beautiful game. Personally, I hope to continue to build upon the incredible program and structure that has been established by the wonderful community-building local soccer club presidents and board members that have come before me,” says Campell. She also wants to acknowledge the contributions of volunteers, such as coaches. “The Ilderton & District Soccer Club would not be as successful as it is without them.”
