MIDDLESEX CENTRE - Call it a sign of the season; “Road Closed Ahead”. Summer road resurfacing got underway in Middlesex Centre this week. Work is expected to take place from July 21 to August 31 on a number of roads in the municipality. This includes roads in Denfield, Lobo, Coldstream, Komoka, and Kilworth. In Ilderton, the work will go on at two locations including King St. from Ilderton Rd. to North Limit.
During this time, surfaces for roads impacted will be repaved, along with curb and gutter replacements at select locations.
Detour and road closure signs will be posted for drivers. The work will impact residents in a number of ways. The municipality is advising people on streets to be resurfaced, that all roads will be open during construction to allow only local traffic to access properties. Parking on the road during construction with be prohibited.
Canada Post will continue to deliver mail during construction, and will provide notification and instruction for residents.
As for garbage and recycling collection, the municipality is advising people that if their pick-up point is temporarily blocked by construction, Middlesex Centre will provide assistance in collection and transportation.
Middlesex Centre is encouraging residents to remove things like sprinklers, flower beds, and invisible fences that may be located in the municipal right of way. The contractor won’t be responsible for repairs to private infrastructure that may be damaged or removed because of the road work.
The municipality also wants people to be aware that construction equipment can cause vibration, and to ensure valuables that are susceptible to damage are protected.
The road work is being funded through the Middlesex Centre capital budget, with $1 million allocated for the work.
A list of the roads impacted by the construction can be found on the Middlesex Centre website.
