GLENCOE - The Municipality of Southwest Middlesex is pleased to announce that it will receive $1,496,742 in funding through the Province of Ontario’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF), a stream of the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP).
This investment will be used to upgrade the Industrial Road Sanitary Pump Station, a critical piece of infrastructure that will enable nearly 1,000 homes in the community to benefit from modern, dependable services. In addition, the upgrades will support enhancements to existing sanitary services, providing greater capacity and improved reliability for current households.
“This investment in Southwest Middlesex will ensure reliable infrastructure for residents and support future growth in the community,” said Steve Pinsonneault, MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex. “Upgrading the Industrial Road Sanitary Pump Station means nearly 1,000 homes will benefit from modern, dependable services, which is an important step in building a stronger and more resilient municipality.”
Mayor Allan Mayhew expressed appreciation for the provincial government’s support: “We are grateful to the Province of Ontario for recognizing the importance of investing in Southwest Middlesex. This $1.5 million contribution will not only strengthen essential infrastructure but also position our community for growth, ensuring families have access to reliable services as we continue to build for the future.”
The HEWSF program is designed to help municipalities deliver critical housing-enabling infrastructure that supports both immediate needs and long-term growth. This funding represents an important step forward in ensuring that Southwest Middlesex remains a strong, resilient, and welcoming community.
