MIDDLESEX CENTRE - A ribbon cutting was held on September 16th to mark an expansion at SARI Therapeutic Riding. Four new horse stalls have been added at the centre, which is on Medway Rd. in Middlesex Centre.
“The ribbon cutting is extremely exciting, and we want to thank our volunteers who made this happen,” says Executive Director Lisa Citton-Battel. The addition of the stalls means that SARI can increase its capacity from 350 to approximately 385 participants each year. “We’re constantly trying to decrease our waitlist and increase the number of participants who come here,” says Citton-Battell.
Providing the new stalls was a team effort, with the installation done with the help of volunteers. “We’re delighted the community came together, and we were very generously funded by donors who funded the stalls. And also, by Wastell Homes. Doug Wastell did the entire construction with his staff throughout this massive winter,” says Citton-Battell.
SARI has been in operation for nearly 50 years, offering programs with the assistance of trained instructors and specially selected horses. “We provide equine therapy to disabled individuals. And it is absolutely magical. People can ride, they can groom, and there’s a lot of different programs people can experience here at SARI,” says Citton-Battell.
As part of the ribbon cutting event, SARI also officially launched a new Kubota RTV donated by Hyde Park Equipment, which is being used to maintain the grounds and paddocks.
