As we gather once again this Remembrance Day, I invite everyone to pause and reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit of the men and women who served—and continue to serve—our country. Their bravery has shaped the freedoms and opportunities we hold dear today.
Each November 11th, we unite at cenotaphs across our communities to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Whether it’s through the laying of wreaths, moments of silence, or stories shared between generations, these acts of remembrance remind us that the peace we enjoy was hard-won and must never be taken for granted.
Our local legions continue to play an essential role in preserving this legacy. They are the heart of remembrance in our towns—supporting veterans, organizing commemorative events, and fostering connection between young people and our shared history. The annual Poppy Campaign is a powerful symbol of gratitude and a vital source of support for veterans and their families. Every poppy worn represents a promise: that we will remember them.
This year, as we reflect on the past and look to the future, let us also renew our commitment to supporting our veterans year-round. Whether through donations, volunteering, or simply attending a local ceremony, every gesture matters.
Together, we honour their service, uphold their memory, and carry forward the spirit of Remembrance. Lest we forget.
