MIDDLESEX CENTRE - Middlesex Centre is looking for someone to fill its top municipal job. Earlier this month, it was announced that Chief Administrative Officer, Michael Di Lullo will be leaving the post to take up the job of CAO with the County of Haldimand.
“It wasn’t an easy decision. It’s been a privilege to be here in Middlesex Centre. The opportunity came up for a different challenge… It’s an opportunity for me to learn and grow,” says Di Lullo.
Di Lullo joined Middlesex Centre in 2019. In his time as CAO, he has overseen major initiatives including a new Strategic Plan, which is a roadmap for the municipality in years leading up to 2026. Di Lullo was also at the helm during extensive renovations to the Coldstream municipal office, and upgrades to the Ilderton Arena.
During his tenure as CAO, Middlesex Centre won several prestigious award, and was named one of the top 100 most liveable communities in Canada. However, when asked what he’s most proud of, Di Lullo cites relationships and the workplace culture. “I think I’m most proud of the team we’ve been able to establish here, between the staff and council,” says Di Lullo. “We’ve got a wonderful, dedicated public service in Middlesex Centre that really sets us apart,” adds Di Lullo.
Middlesex Centre Mayor, Aina DeViet, praised Di Lullo’s ability to work with people and singled out his accomplishments in overseeing the budget process. “I’m sorry to see him go. He’s been a great person to work with; forward looking and innovative,” said DeViet.
Di Lullo’s resignation takes effect November 14th. Until a permanent replacement is found, Middlesex Centre will appoint an interim CAO.
Di Lullo is the second member of the senior management team in Middlesex Centre to announce his departure this fall. Earlier, it was announced that Community Services Director, Scott Mairs, was leaving to take up the job of Director of Public Works and Community Services for Central Elgin.
