SPORTS - The Strathroy Rockets took an early lead and held onto it, in a Thanksgiving Sunday afternoon matchup with the Komoka Kings.
The first period was all Rockets, with Strathroy scoring at the 2:59 mark. Zachary LeBlanc scored for the Rockets, with assists from Jaxson Cragg. Strathroy scored again in the first with Joshua Lapinski putting the puck in the net at 8:48. Assists went to Nathan Gaitens and Zachary LeBlanc. Connor Crandon scored on the power play just past the halfway mark in the first, with assists from Jake Ritson and Gavin McGahey-Smith.
Jaxson Cragg scored the lone goal in the second period at just under 12 minutes. Wyatt Ferguson and William Hull got the assists.
The Kings scored their lone goal of the game at around the nine-minute mark in the third. Assists went to Morgan Paine and Riley Alexander.
Cole Dotterman scored the final goal of the game for the Rockets on an empty net with under two minutes to play. Macklin Brimmell was credited with the assist. The final score was 5-1 for Strathroy.
