My name is Amiee Bloemendal, a representative for the Mount Brydges Business Association (MBBA). I am also a local business owner, co-owning both Bert’s Repair Service and Road Runner Sign Rentals.
Like many people in our community, I wear more than one hat. Running local businesses gives me a front row seat to the challenges and opportunities small businesses face, which is why I am passionate about supporting our local business community through our business association.
The MBBA is volunteer run, with a focus on bringing businesses together, promoting the local business district and creating opportunities to collaborate. We operate with the goal of strengthening the local economy, giving back to our community and keeping Mt Brydges vibrant. Throughout the year, we continue to organize community events such as our Christmas Open House, Community Fest, and Canada Day activities. These events bring families into the business district, encourage people to shop local, and create meaningful community connections.
We have also expanded into business focused learning and networking opportunities. Through our partnership with the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc & the Local First Movement, we recently hosted Business in Brydges and an AI workshop. More workshops, local market and more are in planning. Local First Movement is a collaboration supporting local businesses and shopping local with the MBBA, Strathroy BIA, Chamber of Commerce, and the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc.
You can check out the Local First Movement at https://localfirstmovement.ca. The MBBA welcomes ideas, participation, and community involvement. Businesses interested in getting involved or community members looking to volunteer are encouraged to connect and be part of shaping a strong local business community.
