With the warmer weather returning many of us in the community start thinking about patios, summer evenings, and local events. We sometimes forget how important these events are, not just socially but economically as well. In a small town like Mt. Brydges, summer events do more than create a fun afternoon.
When people come into the business district it introduces them to local shops. A busy event can have a ripple effect that lasts well beyond the event itself. A great example of this is Mt. Brydges Community Fest on June 6, 2026. This free, family-friendly event takes place throughout town and includes a market in the park. It’s put together by volunteers on The Mount Brydges Business Association who care about keeping Mt. Brydges active and connected. It is also the town-wide garage sale day, which adds even more activity. While families are out enjoying everything going on, local businesses see increased foot traffic and often connect with customers who may not have stopped in otherwise.
Summer is a time to enjoy the spaces that make our town feel like home. Local spots like The Still Bar or the Mount Brydges Legion offer patios, food, and events, but more importantly, they give people a place to gather and catch up. Around town, there’s no shortage of great businesses to check out. Home décor and specialty shops help freshen up homes, automotive shops get vehicles ready for travel, and local retailers help with everyday needs. What often gets overlooked is that shopping local is what makes all of this possible. Supporting local businesses helps fund sponsorships for sports teams, donating to events, and supports the volunteers and service clubs behind it all. We are excited for all the local events coming to our town this summer some new and some long-standing traditions.
