SPORTS - The three Middlesex County Junior teams, Mount Brydges Bulldogs, Lucan Irish and North Middlesex Stars, are well into their 2026-27 season, bringing action and some nail-biters along the way. After some exhibition games, September 11 marked the beginning of the regular season.
Too early to make anything of the stats, it’s interesting to see the energy of the players and how team members work together.
As of writing this, the Bulldogs got off to a great start with 12 points, as they win six of their six games played. Mount Brydges’ #9, Connor Castellarin, leads his team with seven goals and 13 points. Mount Brydges had two away games. On October 9 they were at Port Stanley and the next day in Petrolia.
The Stars, in second place, tie for points with six wins in nine games, but three losses. One win was an overtime win against the Petrolia Flyers. North Middlesex player #9, Nick Bannister, has the most goals on the team at nine. The Stars played the Sailers in Port Staley October 10.
The Irish, with four points so far, won two of eight games to land in second from the bottom, in seventh place. One of those were in overtime shootouts. Lucan’s #24, Matthew Rutledge, has four goals and four assists, garnering eight points so far. Lucan had two away games, against Exeter on October 9 and then Aylmer on the 10th.
