The freedoms that Canadians experience daily, came at a price.
November 11th is the day we stop and thank those who put on a Canadian military uniform, and fought for what we so often take for granted.
From the First and Second World Wars, through Korea, Afghanistan, and peacekeeping missions around the world, Canada’s veterans have fought for freedom, democracy, and the rule of law.
Values that continue to shape our lived experience here at home.
In Middlesex-London, our local cenotaphs are inscribed with the names of those who left the familiarity of home to serve.
The peace and security we enjoy today was paid for in blood, hardship, pain, and agony.
Even though we live in a digital age, it is easy to forget our past.
On November 11th, we stand together as a united country and declare: We Will Remember Them. We Will Never Forget.
Whether you gather at a cenotaph or watch an observance online, give a word of thanks to those who served, and currently serve, in our Armed Forces.
I am grateful for those who sacrificed, so I have the privilege to represent you, the residents of Middlesex-London.
Lest We Forget.
