Ralph Thorn has directed the Strathroy Chorale since 1996, following an earlier eighteen years as accompanist, but he has decided it is time for him to retire. Present and past members of the Strathroy Chorale are immensely grateful for Ralph’s dedication to our community choir over the years. He helped us navigate many changes in our group over time, including the difficult transition through the pandemic. With his support, we continue to offer a very important service in our community, giving music lovers a chance to share that love of music with others.
Outside the Chorale, Ralph has enjoyed a career as a piano technician and rebuilder, specializing in historic instruments. Complementing his full-time piano work, Ralph has been a church musician serving churches in London and Strathroy. Ralph’s volunteering in the arts has been recognized with awards from the Ontario Arts Council, Jeunesses Musicales of Canada, and with the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Medal of Distinction from the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc.
