SPORTS - The Komoka Kings beat the Waterloo Siskins in exciting fashion, with a goal midway through overtime. The game was played in front of a hometown crowd on December 13th.
The Kings took an early lead in the first period with a goal by Jagan Chanderdat.
Komoka scored again just after the 8-minute mark into the first. Mason Landry got the goal. Riley Alexander was also credited with an assist.
The Kings continued to dominate into the second period. Morgan Paine put the puck in the net and Landry got the assist, along with Owen Miniotas.
Then it was Jesse Debruyn who scored for the Kings with a short-handed goal. The assist came from Miniotas.
With the score 4-0 for the Kings, the Siskins started a scoring drive nine minutes into the second period with a breakaway goal, while a Kings player sat in the penalty box. Waterloo continued the drive into the third period. They scored the powerplay at 3:39, then got another goal two minutes later. Another goal at just under nine minutes into the third resulted in a 4-4 tie, sending the game to overtime.
It was a big night for the Kings’ Nathaniel Adams who scored the game winner at 3:54 in overtime ending the game with a 5-4 score. Assists went to Nolan Egelton and Colsen Joyce.
