The start of the year has been a busy one across Lambton—Kent—Middlesex. While the Legislature hasn’t been sitting at Queen’s Park, the work certainly hasn’t slowed down. This time allows me to spend more time here in the riding meeting with residents, visiting local farms and businesses, and connecting with the people who make our communities strong.
One of the highlights to start the year was our annual New Year’s Levee. It was great to see so many familiar faces and catch up with residents from across the riding.
Agriculture continues to be the backbone of our local economy, and I’ve had the opportunity to visit with farmers and meet with several commodity groups in recent months. I also joined colleagues at a forum hosted by the Middlesex Federation of Agriculture, where we heard from more than a dozen agricultural groups about the opportunities and challenges facing the sector. It was a valuable and insightful discussion.
I’ve also continued meeting with our local hospital leadership and municipal leaders to stay informed on community needs and priorities.
There has also been good news locally when it comes to infrastructure. Our government was proud to support a $15 million investment to help rehabilitate Strathroy-Caradoc’s wastewater treatment plant and $4 million for the Township of North Middlesex to rebuild the Mount Carmel Reservoir.
As the Legislature prepares to return, I’ll be heading back to Queen’s Park with the voices and priorities of Lambton—Kent—Middlesex in mind, continuing to advocate for the people and communities that make this region such a great place to call home.
