HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION IN MIDDLESEX COUNTY
MIDDLESEX CENTRE - Police are investigating a homicide after an individual was located deceased at a residence in Middlesex Centre. On May 27, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an address on Carriage Road in Middlesex Centre for the report of a sudden death. The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time.
As a result of the investigation, Nicholas RUSSELL-EWANATION, a 28-year-old resident of Middlesex Centre, is charged with Second Degree Murder, contrary to section 235 (1) of the Criminal Code. The accused remains in custody for a bail hearing.
CYCLIST CHARGED FOR RIDING BICYCLE ON HIGHWAY 401
LONDON- Cyclist from Southwest Middlesex facing multiple charges after riding bicycle on Highway 401. On May 26, 2024, at 11:37 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the Eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at Wonderland Road in the City of London after receiving multiple reports of a cyclist on the highway. Police closed the highway briefly in order to get the individual off the road safely. As a result, a 16-year-old of Southwest Middlesex, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with: Pedestrian using controlled-access highway, Bicycle on controlled-access highway. The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charges at a later date.
THEFT OF TRAILER LEADS TO ARREST AND CHARGES
ADELAIDE METCALFE - Police have charged two individuals after a theft of trailer in Adelaide Metcalfe. On May 29, 2024, at 1:38 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to an address on Egremont Drive in Adelaide Metcalfe Township, for the report of a theft in progress. Officers attended the area and located the truck and trailer travelling Eastbound on Highway 402. A traffic stop was initiated at which time two individuals were placed under arrest.
As a result, Kenneth ARSENAULT, a 59-year-old of Hamilton has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with: Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence, Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 - in Canada, Possession Break In Instruments, Driving while under suspension, Use plate not authorized for vehicle (two counts), Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, Fail to have insurance card.
As a result, Jason CROWE, a 35-year-old of St. Thomas has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with: Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence, Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 - in Canada, Possession Break In Instruments, Use plate not authorized for vehicle, Class G1 licence holder - unaccompanied by qualified driver, The enclosed utility trailer, valued between $15,000 and $20,000 was recovered. The accused were held for bail.
VEHICLE STOLEN IN NORTH MIDDLESEX
NORTH MIDDLESEX - On June 2, 2024, at 6:25 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to an address on West Corner Drive in North Middlesex, for the report of a stolen vehicle.It was determined an unknown individual(s) entered onto the property sometime during the overnight hours and proceeded to steal a black, 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. In an effort to deter criminals from stealing your vehicle, the OPP are reminding everyone to lock your vehicles, pocket the keys and take them with you upon exiting your vehicle. It is also suggested that all personal items, including wallets, purses and parcels should be removed as well.
TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGE
LUCAN BIDDULPH - Driver charged with impaired operation after a member of the public reports a possible impaired driver on Elginfield Road. On June 8, 2024, at 10:30 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Elginfield Road in Lucan Biddulph, for the report of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was located at which time a traffic stop was initiated. It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol and was placed under arrest. As a result, a 17-year-old of St. Marys, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Control Act with: Operation while impaired - alcohol, Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), Dangerous operation, Obstruct Peace Officer, Resist Peace Officer, Drive motor vehicle - no licence, Young driver - B.A.C. above zero, Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor. The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
