SEARCH WARRANT RESULTS IN DRUG POSSESSION & TRAFFICKING CHARGES

MIDDLESEX CENTRE - Middlesex Centre resident facing drug trafficking charges after search warrant executed in Arva. On June 11, 2024, members of the Middlesex-Elgin Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Canine and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at a residence on Medway Road in Arva, Middlesex Centre. CSCU members recovered just under $12,000 worth of illicit drugs, approximately $10,000 in Canadian currency. Lawand ABDUL-KADIR, a 30-year-old of Arva, has been charged under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with: Obstruct Peace Officer, Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine, Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin).The accused was held for bail. The investigation is continuing.

FATAL COLLISION IN ADELAIDE METCALFE

ADELAIDE METCALFE - Two individuals have died as a result of a two-vehicle collision on Egremont Drive. On June 15, 2024, at 1:10 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex-London Paramedic Service, and local fire, were dispatched to Egremont Drive, just west of School Road in Adelaide Metcalfe for the report of a serious collision involving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and motorcycle. Two occupants travelling on the motorcycle died as a result of the collision. The driver of the SUV was transported to hospital as a precaution.The deceased identities are being withheld at this time pending next-of-kin notification. The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team attended the collision scene to assist with the investigation. The roadway will remain closed between School Road and Seed Road for the next few hours for the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

OPP INVESTIGATING FRAUD ATTEMPT IN MIDDLESEX COUNTY

MIDDLESEX COUNTY - Middlesex County OPP investigating a fraud attempt in Middlesex County. On June 20, 2024, at 11:18 a.m., a Middlesex County resident attended a local Middlesex County OPP Detachment to report what appeared to be a fraudulent document from Hydro One, which was seeking a payment in excess of $500 for an outstanding account. A quick glance of the document from the ‘Accounts Receivable Unit’, may appear to be a legitimate document seeking payment. Representatives of Hydro One confirmed the document was a fraud. The investigation is continuing.

OPP INVESTIGATE FATAL COLLISION

SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX - An individual is deceased following a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle in Southwest Middlesex County. On June 23, 2024, at approximately 2:45 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Southwest Middlesex Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision on Longwoods Road near Sassafras Road, Municipality of Southwest Middlesex. The collision involved a lone motorcycle which left the roadway, collided with a tree, and ignited on fire. A 41-year-old from Leamington, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased individual will not be released out of respect for the family’s privacy.

TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGE

LUCAN BIDDULPH - Driver charged with impaired operation after a member of the public reports a possible impaired driver on Elginfield Road. On June 8, 2024, at 10:30 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Elginfield Road in Lucan Biddulph, for the report of a possible impaired driver.The vehicle was located at which time a traffic stop was initiated. It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol and was placed under arrest. As a result, a 17-year-old of St. Marys, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Control Act with: Operation while impaired - alcohol, Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), Dangerous operation, Obstruct Peace Officer, Resist Peace Officer, Drive motor vehicle - no licence, Young driver - B.A.C. above zero, Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor. The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges at a future date. The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
