BREAK & ENTER TO COMMERCIAL PROPERTY IN NORTH MIDDLESEX
NORTH MIDDLESEX - On June 30, 2024, at 2:03 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to a commercial property on Kerwood Road in North Middlesex for the report of a break and enter and theft.
Investigation revealed an unknown individual(s) cut a hole in a chain-link fence surrounding the property and entered a locked storage container, sometime between June 27 and June 30, 2024.
At this time, it is believed that approximately, $10,000 worth of copper was stolen.
The investigation is continuing.
DRIVER FACING MULTIPLE TRAFFIC RELATED CHARGES
NORTH MIDDLESEX - Driver from Parkhill facing multiple traffic related charges.
On June 28, 2024, at 7:27 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on general patrol, observed a suspicious vehicle travelling on Grand Bend Road in North Middlesex.
A traffic stop was initiated.
As a result, a 66-year-old of Parkhill, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and Liquor Licence Act with: Driver - fail to properly wear seat belt, Driving while under suspension, Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner, Use plate not authorized for vehicle, Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor. The driver has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charges at a later date.
TRANSPORT TRUCK FIRE ON HIGHWAY 402 SLOWS TRAFFIC OVERNIGHT
MIDDLESEX CENTRE - A transport truck fire slows traffic on Highway 402 overnight in Middlesex Centre.
On July 4, 2024, at 3:16 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Middlesex Centre Fire department were dispatched to Highway 402 Eastbound at Carriage Road in Middlesex Centre, for the report of a transport truck on fire.
One lane of the highway was closed for approximately two hours as emergency crews were on scene.
The vehicle has been removed and the highway is fully open.
There were no injuries reported.
DRIVER CHARGED AFTER ALPR ALERT
STRATHROY-CARADOC - Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system assists officer in stopping and charging a suspended driver from Strathroy-Caradoc.
On July 6, 2024, at 2:36 p.m., a Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) member, while on general patrol on Amiens Drive in the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc, was alerted by the Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system, of a possible suspended driver.
A traffic stop was initiated.
It was determined the driver was suspended.
As a result, a 60-year-old of Strathroy-Caradoc, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with: Driving while under suspension (two counts, Careless driving, Operate a motor vehicle without insurance. The accused has been released from police
custody and is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charges.
TWO VEHICLE COLLISION LEADS TO IMPAIRED BY DRUG CHARGE
MIDDLESEX CENTRE - Driver charged with Impaired after collision in Middlesex Centre.
On July 1, 2024, at 1:05 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol on Southminster Bourne in Middlesex Centre, was flagged down by multiple individuals involved in a collision.
Investigation revealed the driver of a pickup truck collided with a motorcycle from behind.
It was determined the driver had previously consumed an unknown drug. The driver was arrested and transported to the Oxford OPP detachment where tests from a Drug Recognition Expert were administered.
As a result, Nikko YOUCKE, a 20-year-old of St. Thomas, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with: Operation while impaired - drugs, Dangerous operation, Poss of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine. The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on September 6, 2024.
TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO REFUSAL CHARGE
MIDDLESEX CENTRE - Driver charged with refusal after a member of the public reports a possible impaired driver on Richmond Street.
On June 29, 2024, at 4:19 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Richmond Street in Middlesex Centre, for the report of a possible impaired driver.
The vehicle was located at which time a traffic stop was initiated.
It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized at which time the driver refused. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.
As a result, Amanda DA COSTA GOMEZ, a 44-year-old of Lucan Biddulph, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Cannabis Control Act with: Failure or refusal to comply with demand, Dangerous operation, Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available.
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on August 19, 2024.
