LUCAN BIDDULPH – A highlight of the March 18 council meeting was the presentation of the Mayor’s Honour Roll, which recognized four individuals for their outstanding contributions. Kim Cook was honoured for her extensive volunteer work with the Lucan Optimist Club and her leadership in managing the thrift store—a key source of funding for community programs supporting children and youth. Mike Thompson was celebrated for his decades of dedication to minor baseball and hockey, serving in various roles including coach, umpire, and association president. Norm Steeper was posthumously recognized for his community service, including his work with senior citizens and his commitment to local sports initiatives. Council also expressed gratitude to Living Hope Church for its role in organizing Canada Day celebrations for nearly a decade.
Beyond the recognitions, council addressed several key municipal reports and community updates. A public works report was presented, detailing recent infrastructure maintenance, including road repairs and waste management improvements. Council members reviewed updates on snow removal strategies following the recent winter season and discussed future plans to enhance services for residents. Additionally, a tender result for a public works project was introduced, with council considering budget allocations to improve local facilities. There was also mention of ongoing sidewalk improvements and the implementation of updated signage in school zones to increase pedestrian safety.
Financial matters were also on the agenda, with the presentation of the latest budget overview.
