MOUNT BRYDGES - Council has officially appointed resident William Flegel to the Tri-Township Arena Board of Management, filling the vacancy left by the resignation of Board Member Terry Whelan in December 2024. This decision was made during the council meeting on March 17, following a review by the Striking Committee of two candidates for the position.
Brianna Hammer-Keidel, Director of Legal & Legislative Services/Clerk, presented the recommendation at the council meeting. “The Striking Committee met on February 26 to review two applications received to serve on the Tri-Township Arena Board Management… Ward two resident, William Flegel was recommended,” Clerk reported to council.
The appointment of Flegel is for the remainder of the term, which concludes on November 14, 2026. This strategic decision aims to ensure the continuity and effectiveness of the Arena Board’s operations, which is critical in managing one of the community’s key recreational facilities.
The motion was moved by Councillor Frank Kennes and seconded by Deputy Mayor Mike McGuire, and was carried unanimously.
This appointment reflects the council’s commitment to maintaining robust management and oversight of the Tri-Township Arena, which serves as a vital resource for promoting community well-being and active lifestyles among residents of all ages in Strathroy-Caradoc.
