OPP INVESTIGATING A FATAL COLLISION IN NORTH MIDDLESEX
NORTH MIDDLESEX - Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigating a fatal collision in North Middlesex. On August 15, 2025, at approximately 11:25 p.m., emergency services including members of the Middlesex County OPP, Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and Thames Centre Fire, were dispatched to Cedar Swamp Road between McGillivray Drive and Mooresville Drive in the Municipality of North Middlesex, for the report of a single vehicle collision.
Investigation revealed a vehicle travelling on Cedar Swamp Road, left the roadway and rolled. The driver, a 37-year-old male from North Middlesex, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Members of the West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team attended the scene along with Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit to assist with the investigation. Cedar Swamp Road between McGillivary Drive and Moorseville Drive was closed for the investigation.
INDIVIDUAL FACING CHARGES AFTER THEFT COMPLAINT
SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX - Individual from Glencoe charged with theft after incident at a local business in Glencoe. On August 14, 2025, at 9:33 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to a business at 275 Main Street in Glencoe, Municipality of Southwest Middlesex, for the report of a theft in progress.
Officers arrived on scene at which time the individual fled from officers. After a brief foot pursuit, the individual was placed under arrest. As a result, a 26-year-old of Glencoe, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Trespass to Property Act with: Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING, possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada, Enter premises when entry prohibited. The accused was held for bail.
UNLEASHED DOGS ATTACK RESIDENT AND PET
ONEIDA NATION OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) - Police are investigating an incident involving a dog attack that resulted in the death of a pet and injuries to a resident. On August 26, 2025, at approximately 7:54 p.m., members of the Oneida Nation Police Service, Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and Oneida Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a report of an animal complaint on Bodkin Road, Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation.
The investigation determined that an individual was walking their dog when two unleashed pit bulls, not restrained and without their owner present, attacked. The individual was able to retreat to their residence and contact police.
Police attended the area and located the two pit bulls. During the response, one of the dogs charged at police, prompting the officer to discharge their firearm to ensure public and officer safety. The victim, a 71-year-old resident of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim’s dog died as a result of the attack.
Police are reminding all pet owners to ensure dogs are always leashed or properly contained to prevent dangerous encounters. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Middlesex County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000. The investigation is continuing.
LOST HIKERS LOCATED SAFE ON TRAIL IN NORTH MIDDLESEX
NORTH MIDDLESEX - Lost hikers located safe on North Middlesex trail utilizing What3Words app On September 1, 2025, at 3:56 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched a popular hiking trail at 101 Elm Tree Drive in the Municipality of North Middlesex, for the report of hikers lost on the trail.
Investigation revealed, two hikers took to the trail and became lost. Utilizing the What3Words App, police were able to locate and help guide the hikers from the trail back to their vehicle. There were no injuries reported.
What3Words is a free app that allows an easy way to describe any precise location with or without Wi-Fi. It has divided the world into a grid of 3 metre squares and given each square a unique address made from three random words.
