Christmas is a time of holiday spirit, family, and celebrating the birth of Jesus. Our main streets are draped in Christmas decorations and our local shops are stocked with unique gift ideas. A major marker of the season has been the Santa Claus parades that have taken place across the riding. Thank you to the faithful volunteers for your hours of work and sacrifice to make these events a success for our communities to enjoy. It is always a joy for me to see the children, excited to get a glimpse of Santa!
Winter is marked by shorter days and longer stretches of darkness. But light broke through the darkness when Jesus, the saviour of the world, was born in Bethlehem in a manger. This act brought heaven to earth and peace in a time of war and strife.
As you decorate your home, put up your Christmas tree, and make holiday plans with family and friends, remember the reason for the season. We don’t have to live under darkness. We can put our hope in Immanuel, the Prince of Peace.
I know the holiday season may be a challenging time for some, but I am encouraged to see our communities come together to support one another. Please know that you are loved and supported. If you are lonely or feeling down and would like to talk to someone, it’s as easy as dialing 988.
From my family to yours, I wish you and your family joy, warmth and peace during this holiday season.
Merry Christmas,
Happy Hanukkah and may the year ahead be full of hope and blessings!
