GLENCOE - Co chairs of the Rodney Kiwanis Signature Project, their Children’s Literacy Program, Larry Schneider and Sharon Little, visited Eckoe Public School in Glencoe on Thursday, May 14 to receive a substantial donation of books for the Blue Boxes for Books (BBB) program in our area. The Kiwanis Club is holding its annual spring book drive, and the Eckoe school family decided to donate all of the books remaining from their recent book sale to this project!
In the first photo (left) staff and students display many of the books being donated, to be shared with other children in the area, along with Eckoe P.S. Principal Matthew Chevalier, and Kiwanis member Sharon Little. Such amazing generosity, and caring for others!
The second photo (right) shows a few of the nine boxes of children’s books donated, which filled my vehicle to the brim! These books will be processed, then distributed over the coming months to the BBB locations throughout West Elgin and Dutton, and now to Eckoe P.S.
Many thanks to the parents, staff, and students of Eckoe for this most generous, appreciated, and important contribution. Reading builds young minds, hearts, and character!
