SPORTS - It was a split weekend for the Komoka Kings, with the team recording a victory against the London Nationals on Saturday September 19th, and falling to the Caledonia Convairs in an afternoon matchup the next day.
Mathias Prud’Homme-Foster had a big game for the Kings against the Nationals in front of a home crowd. After a scoreless first period, the Kings forward put the puck in the net at the 11:32 mark. Assists went to Tristan Witmer and Atley Rogers. The third period opened with the Nationals ahead, but Rogers tied up the game with a goal assisted by Prud’Homme-Foster. It was all Kings in the third, with two more goals towards the end of the period. Tristan Witmer put the puck in the net at 17:39, then it was Jaden Switzer’s turn. The final goal for the Kings had an assist by Prud’Homme-Foster to make the final score 4-2 Kings.
Sunday’s game featured at matchup with the Caledonia Corvairs. It was all Corvairs early in the first period, with Caledonia going ahead by three goals until Morgan Paine scored for the Kings on the powerplay with assists from Gavin Yoo and Nathaniel Rose.
A scoreless second period was followed by another Caledonia goal midway through the third period. Mathias Prud’Homme-Foster responded with a powerplay goal at the 15-minute mark, but the Kings were bested 4-2. Their next home game is against the St. Thomas Stars on Saturday September 26th.
