TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO IMPAIRED BY DRUG CHARGE
MIDDLESEX CENTRE - Traffic complaint of possible impaired driver from a good Samaritan, leads to multiple charges for London driver. On July 29, 2024, at 7:38 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to Richmond Street in Middlesex Centre for the report of a possible impaired driver. Officers located the vehicle south of Elginfield Road on Richmond Street and performed a traffic stop. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where further tests were administered by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). As a result, a 36-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Act with: Operation while impaired - drugs, Obstruct Peace Officer, Poss of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine, Driving while under suspension, Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on September 13, 2024.
TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO MULTIPLE CHARGES FOR WANTED PERSON
MIDDLESEX CENTRE - Wanted driver from London facing numerous charges including drug trafficking and refusal. On August 1, 2024, at 9:56 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was performing a traffic enforcement initiative on Longwoods Road in Delaware, Middlesex Centre and observed a vehicle pass by at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated on Bennett Crescent in Mount Brydges. It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized at which time the driver refused. The driver was placed under arrest. Further checks indicated the driver was wanted from a neighbouring municipal police service. A search of the vehicle, led to the seizure of approximately 200 pills of suspected hydromorphone.The driver was transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.As a result, a 26-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Liquor Licence Control Act with: Failure or refusal to comply with demand, Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court, Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs, Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available. The accused was held for bail.
BREAK & ENTER IN SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX LEADS TO ARRESTS
SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX - Two individuals from Chatham arrested and charged after shop on rural property was broken into.On August 2, 2024, at 8:37 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to a farm property on Trillium Drive in Southwest Middlesex for the report of a break and enter in progress. Reports indicated two unknown individuals broke into a shop on the property. The motorcycle they were operating broke down, at which time they fled on foot and entered a cornfield. Members of the OPP Canine and Emergency Response Team (ERT) were dispatched to the area to assist with the investigation. Two individuals were located and taken into custody. As a result, a 44-year-old, and a 38-year-old, both of Chatham, have been charged under the Criminal Code with: Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence, Theft Under $5000, Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada. The accused have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on September 10, 2024.
INCREASED POLICE PRESENCE IN LUCAN

LUCAN - The Middlesex Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is informing the public about an increased police presence in the area of William Street near Frank Street, Lucan. At approximately 1:15 p.m. on August 9, 2024, officers from the Middlesex County OPP Detachment responded to an address in Lucan for an ongoing police investigation. The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), the OPP Canine Unit, OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) as well a the OPP Crisis Negotiators (CN) attended to assist in the investigation. At approximately 4:05 p.m. an individual was taken into custody without incident. During the investigation, there was no threat to public safety, motorists and residents were urged to avoid the area at the time, but all roads have since been reopened.

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGE
MIDDLESEX CENTRE - Traffic stop for speeding on Highbury Avenue North leads to impaired charge. On July 7, 2024, at 4:26 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol, observed a vehicle travelling well above the posted speed limit on Highbury Avenue North in Middlesex Centre.
A traffic stop was initiated. It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex
OPP detachment where further tests were administered.
As a result, a 44-year-old of Granton, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with: Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), Driver fail to surrender
licence, Speeding 1 - 49 Km/h over posted limit
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on September 5, 2024.
ABANDONED VEHICLE LEADS TO MULTIPLE CHARGES
MIDDLESEX CENTRE - Two individuals have been charged after an abandoned vehicle investigation in Middlesex Centre. On August 4, 2024, at 5:45 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to Longwoods Road at Carriage Road in Middlesex Centre, for the report of an abandoned vehicle that left the roadway and entered the ditch. Police patrolled the area and located two individuals walking from the scene. It was determined the driver was impaired at which time they were placed under arrest and transported to the Oxford County OPP detachment for further testing from a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). As a result, a 50-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Highway Traffic Act with: Operation while impaired - drugs, Failure or refusal to comply with demand, Flight from peace officer, Failure to comply with undertaking, Poss of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine, Driving while under suspension, Fail to remain.The accused was held for bail. The passenger, a 44-year-old of London, was also charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
