ARVA - An open house was held on August 8th to present members of the public with details of a proposed subdivision in Arva.
The Neighbourhood Open House was held at Medway High School by York Developments to present details of a proposed draft plan of the subdivision known as Bridle Path.
At this time, there has been no application made to Middlesex Centre about the subdivision. A notice that went out about the event from the developer states “The intent of this project is to establish a land use pattern that is compact in design, promotes housing choice and housing supply, and is connected with the surrounding community.”
Presentation boards are also available for viewing on the municipal website. Located on the west side of Richmond St., the development would include lands to the north and south of Medway Rd. The draft proposal includes a mix of residential housing forms, some commercial and office development as well as parkland in the western part of the site. In its current concept there would be about 1,000 units which would be contained in a mix of three highrise buildings, one of which would be18 storeys, as well as townhouses and single-detached homes.
In the municipality’s Official Plan, the lands are located within the Arva Community Settlement Area and a designated for residential use. The Presentation Boards state “An Official Plan Amendment is anticipated to permit high-rise apartment forms and non-residential uses.”
The next steps include reviewing comments and design refinement. There will also public meetings before both Middlesex Centre Council and Middlesex County Council. It’s expected the proposed development will go before Middlesex Centre Council in the fall.
