TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO IMPAIRED BY DRUG CHARGE
SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX - Traffic complaint of possible impaired driver from a good Samaritan, leads to charges. On August 27, 2024, at 8:32 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to a restaurant on Main Street in Glencoe, Southwest Middlesex, for the report of a possible impaired driver. Officers located the vehicle in the parking lot and initiated a traffic stop.
The driver was placed under arrest. As a result, a 36-year-old of Tupperville, has been charged under the Criminal Code with: Operation while impaired - drugs, Obstruct Peace Officer. The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on October 7, 2024.
POLICE INVESTIGATION IN NEWBURY
SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX - Two individuals have been arrested and one charged after investigation in Newbury. On September 4, 2024, at approximately 3:16 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an address on Broadway Street in Newbury, Municipality of Southwest Middlesex, for a threat’s complaint.Upon police arrival, the suspect entered the residence and refused to exit.
Members of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Crisis Negotiators and Canine attended the scene to assist. Broadway Street and James Street were closed as a precaution for approximately six hours. There was no threat to public safety.
A 39-year-old of Newbury, was placed under arrest and has been charged under the Criminal Code with: CC 264.1(1)(a) Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm (two counts), CC 88 Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (two counts)
The accused was held for bail. A second individual was released unconditionally from police custody.
TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO ALCOHOL RELATED CHARGES FOR YOUTH
LUCAN BIDDULPH - Traffic complaint leads to alcohol related charges for six youth from Huron County. On September 6, 2024, at 10:36 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police, were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Richmond Street in the Township of Lucan Biddulph. A complaint was received from a member of the public that occupants were tossing items out the window from a moving vehicle. The vehicle was located, and a traffic stop was initiated. A search of the vehicle revealed open alcohol. As a result, five passengers, all 16-years-old of Huron County, were charged under the Liquor Licence Control Act with Person under 19 years having liquor. The driver, a 17-year-old of Blyth, passed a roadside Approved Screening Device (ASD) test and was subsequently charged with Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available under the Liquor Licence Control Act.
VEHICLE STOLEN IN MIDDLESEX CENTRE
MIDDLESEX CENTRE - Middlesex OPP investigating theft of vehicle from Middlesex Centre. On September 6, 2024, at 8:10 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to an address on McEwen Drive in Middlesex Centre, for the report of a stolen vehicle.It was determined an unknown individual(s) entered onto the property and proceeded to steal a black, 2021 GMC Canyon Pickup truck, sometime during the overnight hours. In an effort to deter criminals from stealing your vehicle, the OPP are reminding everyone to lock your vehicles, pocket the keys and take them with you upon exiting your vehicle.
