STRATHROY - As announced in August, Susan McLean, CEO of Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation (SMGHF), is retiring after 35 years of dedicated service and leadership. Recruitment for her successor is underway.
To support this significant change and transition, the SMGHF Board of Directors has appointed Julie McBrien, MHA President & CEO, as the acting CEO of SMGHF, effective November 1st, 2024.
Mike McGuire, Chair of the SMGH Foundation commented, “We were pleased when the MHA Board of Directors and Ms. McBrien offered to support SMGHF during this transition. We look forward to Julie’s leadership in supporting the SMGHF’s staff, donors, volunteers, auxiliary and critical fund-raising activities over the coming months.”
Melanie Stanley, Chair of the MHA Board of Directors, commented “SMGH relies heavily on the support of SMGHF to provide the necessary funding for patient care equipment. Having Julie provide leadership support to SMGHF at this time exemplifies our close partnership with and support of our SMGH Foundation.”
Julie McBrien shared “I am honoured that the SMGHF Board of Directors has trust in me, to provide temporary CEO support. Over the coming months, SMGHF will be laser-focused on fundraising for SMGH’s first MRI Suite. I have an exceptional senior leadership team at MHA, and they will help ensure the priorities of the MHA are not impacted while I support the SMGHF over the next few months.”
There is no compensation associated with this temporary support to the SMGHF, and Ms. McBrien will continue in her role as MHA President & CEO.
