MIDDLESEX CENTRE - Two separate public meetings will be held this month in Middlesex Centre relating to development.
A public meeting will be held January 29th to seek input into a proposed new housing development in Komoka. Plans call for a 10-unit townhouse complex to be built on a parcel of vacant land at 108 Caverhill Cres., near the intersection of Komoka Rd. and Oxbow Dr.
A zoning change is needed for the plans to proceed to allow for more residential density.
According to a document filed with the municipality, the idea is to have a townhouse complex with each unit being three storeys high to maximum height of 12 meters. There would be a garage integrated into the units to accommodate one car. Two visitor parking spaces would be at the site entrance. The complex itself would be comprised of one block of three units, and a larger block with the remaining seven units. A document filed on behalf of the developer, PI Homes states: “The Development Proposal is a 10-unit infill townhouse development surrounded by single detached houses. There is no excessive clustering.”
A revised zoning application went to the municipality, resulting in a new date for a public meeting. The meeting, which will be before members of Middlesex Centre council, will take place on January 29th, at 3:30 p.m.
And Middlesex Centre will be holding an Open House on January 16th to inform residents, local businesses and property owners about plans for reconstruction work on Elmhurst St. and Parkland Place in Kilworth. The project involves infrastructure work to upgrade sewers and watermains as well as constructing new sidewalks. Construction is expected to begin in the spring, with completion by the fall of 2025. People are invited to take a look at the plans at an Open House at the Komoka Wellness Centre on January 16th from 5 to 7 p.m.
