OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL COLLISION IN MIDDLESEX CENTRE
MIDDLESEX CENTRE - Middlesex County OPP investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision. On January 22, 2025, at approximately 5:37 p.m., emergency services including members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and Middlesex Centre Fire, were dispatched to Richmond Street in Middlesex Centre, for a two-vehicle collision. Three individuals were transported to hospital with unknown injuries, where one of the individuals, a 37-year-old of London, was pronounced deceased.
OPP INVESTIGATING BREAK & ENTER IN KOMOKA
MIDDLESEX CENTRE - Middlesex County OPP investigating a break and enter to residence in Komoka. On January 26, 2025, at 12:58 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to an address on Caverhill Crescent in Komoka, Municipality of Middlesex Centre, for the report of a break and enter. Investigation revealed an unknown individual(s) entered a vehicle parked in the laneway, utilized the garage door opener and proceeded to steal approximately $5,000 worth of tools from the garage.The investigation is continuing.
OPP INVESTIGATING $100,000 CRYPTO CURRENCY FRAUD
MIDDLESEX CENTRE - Middlesex OPP investigating a $120,000 Crypto currency fraud. On January 23, 2025, at 8:51 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an address in Middlesex Centre, where an individual reported being a victim of fraud. Investigation revealed the victim joined what looked like an investment group on a popular social media platform. The victim was welcomed into the group, of unknown individuals, and began investing in crypto currency. The victim became suspicious after they were instructed to add additional funds to unlock and retrieve the initial investment, at which time police were called. The investigation is continuing.
Fraud is a multi-billion dollar per year business and modern, tech savvy, fraudsters will do their best to create confusion and chaos during interactions, leading victims to react impulsively and hand over their money. TWO-VEHICLE COLLISION INVOLVING OPP CRUISER
LUCAN BIDDULPH - Middlesex County OPP investigating a two-vehicle collision involving an OPP cruiser. On January 31, 2025, at 7:45 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to Elginfield Road in Lucan Biddulph, for the report of a two-vehicle collision between a passenger vehicle and an OPP cruiser. There were no injuries reported and both vehicles sustained minor damage. A 29-year-old of London was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with fail to yield to traffic on a through highway.
SNOWMOBILE COLLISION SENDS TWO INDIVIDUALS TO HOSPITAL
SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX - Middlesex County OPP investigating a snowmobile collision that sent two individuals to hospital in Southwest Middlesex. On Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:47 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex London Paramedic Service (EMS), and Southwest Middlesex fire were dispatched to an address on Longwoods Road in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex for the report of a single snowmobile collision on private property. As a result of the collision, the driver was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The passenger was also transported to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team attended the scene to assist with the investigation. The investigation is continuing.
TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGE
SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX - Traffic complaint leads to impaired charge. On January 25, 2025, at 10:47 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to Longwoods Road in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex, for the report of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was located at which time a traffic stop was initiated.
As a result, a 71-year-old of Southwest Middlesex, has been charged under the Criminal Code with: Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on March 31, 2025.
The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.
TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGE
STRATHROY-CARADOC - Driver facing Impaired driving charge after traffic stop.
On January 27, 2025, at 3:01 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol in the Eastbound lanes of Highway 402 in the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc, performed a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.
As a result, a 43-year-old of Mississauga, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with: Operation while impaired - drugs, Dangerous operation, Drive - display screen visible to driver, Fail to stop on right for emergency vehicle
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on March 11, 2025.
