STRATHROY — A homicide investigation is ongoing after a 27-year-old man was fatally stabbed on Ashby Crescent in Strathroy during the late afternoon of June 27.
Emergency crews responded to the call around 5 p.m. and found a man with apparent stab wounds outside a residence. Despite efforts by first responders, the victim—identified as Endy Moniz of Strathroy—was pronounced dead at the scene.
Joel Peralta Del Valle, also 27 and from Strathroy, has been charged with first-degree murder. He remains in custody.
Police have stated there is no threat to public safety and that the incident appears to be isolated.
The Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service is leading the investigation, with support from the Ontario Provincial Police Criminal Investigation Branch, the Sarnia Police Service, the Office of the Chief Coroner, and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
No information has been released regarding the motive behind the incident or the relationship between the two individuals involved. Authorities are asking anyone with relevant information to contact police.
In the days following the incident, residents and members of the Strathroy community have expressed shock and sorrow, with tributes emerging online in remembrance of the victim.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by friends of the victim to help support his wife and their two young sons.
The fundraiser describes Moniz as a devoted father and a hardworking individual whose loss has left a deep impact on loved ones.
