SPORTS - The Komoka Kings took on the Chatham Maroons for a feisty, penalty-laden Family Day game.
The Kings opened the scoring in the February 16th afternoon matchup with a goal by Nash Jacobs in the middle of the first period. Assists went to Tyson Ackerman and Mason Landry.
The Maroons responded with a power play goal four minutes later, to tie the game at the end of one period.
It was the second period that was dominated by both teams racking up a lot of penalties. There was a total of 16 penalties in the second, including players sent to the box three times for 10-minute misconducts.
Chatham opened the scoring the second with another power play goal. The Kings stormed back just under a minute later with a goal by Lucas Van Steensel. Josh Myatt and Kingston Powell were credited with the assists.
The conference-leading Maroons went on to score two more goals in the second.
The Kings came back at just under four minutes into the third period with a goal by Ben Siroen. The assist went to Owen Minotas. The Maroons responded with a goal at 17:54, and an empty-net goal at just under the 19-minute mark.
The final score was 6-3.
