SPORTS - Solid goaltending kept it to a low-scoring game, as the Strathroy Rockets beat the Komoka Kings 2-1 in a Sunday afternoon matchup on December 8th.
Strathroy opened the scoring just under 12 minutes into the first period at the Komoka Wellness Centre with a goal by Eddie Hickson. Assists went to Jake Ritson and Quinn Gavin-White. That was all the scoring for the first.
The Rockets scored the lone goal in the second period off a shot by Jason Cragg. Macklin Brimmel and Mark Miller were credited with the assists. The Kings hoped to even things up with a rally midway through the third period. Nathan Enwright scored for Komoka, with assists from Mason Landry and Morgan Paine.
The game ended with a total of 29 shots on goal for the Rockets and 31 for the Kings. The two teams have gone head-to-head two previous times this season, with each chalking up a victory.
