As the harvest draws to a close across our region, I want to express my deep gratitude for the extraordinary work you have done. Day after day, you have brought in the crops that sustain our communities, our province, our country, and our world. The long hours, the unpredictable weather, the mechanical challenges, and the constant pressure of narrow windows of opportunity are your daily reality during the harvest season. Your tireless effort is visible in every field that has been carefully worked and every load that has been safely harvested.
Beyond the physical demands, you set an example that all of us can learn from. In an era when many seek shortcuts, you demonstrate what steady commitment, skill, generational knowledge, and responsibility look like. You manage risk, adapt to conditions you cannot control, and still deliver. Rural youth see the value of work done well, of perseverance when the weather turns, and of looking after both the land and the people who depend on it. That example strengthens the character of Middlesex–London and reminds the rest of Canada what productive stewardship truly means.
Most importantly, you keep us fed. The food that reaches tables across Ontario, throughout Canada, and to markets overseas begins with the decisions and labour you undertake each harvest. In a world where food security and sovereignty cannot be taken for granted, your contribution is both practical and profound. You produce the grain, oilseeds, vegetables, feed, and other commodities that form the foundation of reliable supply chains. Without your work, the abundance many take for granted would not exist.
Thank you for the harvest you have brought in, for the standard you set, and for the quiet, essential service of keeping Canada and the world fed.
