SPORTS - The North Middlesex Stars played one game, September 28, in Parkhill against the Thamesford Trojans, losing it 2-1.
Only one game was played last weekend as well, a Saturday meet against the Aylmer Spitfires in Parkhill. With 32 seconds left in period one and the Stars down a man from a penalty garnered, they pressured the Trojans’ goalie and managed to make the first goal of the game. Over 15 minutes into the second, Musselman scored his second of that game to give North Middlesex a two-goal lead before Aylmer got on the board. Nazwaski kept the Stars alive with 34 saves.
Aylmer scored their second in period three to tie the game up. Musselman delivered a hat trick after, but the Spitfires would score once more to send the game into overtime. It wouldn’t be long—2:56—before Heessels put the Stars ahead to win the game 4-3.
Meanwhile the Lucan Fighting Irish played two games, one on Thursday September 26 in Petrolia against the Flyers, and lost 8-1. Two days later Lucan hosted the Aylmer Spitfires and lost that one 4-2.
Last Saturday October 5 they met the Thamesford Trojans in Lucan. Thamesford came on strong with two goals in Period one while the Irish remained quiet. In period two, Muller scored for Lucan in the first two minutes. The Trojans, however, scored thrice. Period three Vandierendonck and Richard scored for Lucan, but Thamesford continued their lead taking three more goals and winning the game 8-3. Despite the loss, Leland Gooder kept 37 pucks out of the Lucan net.
Sunday afternoon Lucan traveled to Aylmer to take on the Spitfires for a second try. The Spitfires jumped ahead in the first, gained two more in the second as Lucan got on the board, then in the third, Aylmer scored again, winning over Lucan, 4-1.
