SPORTS - The Strathroy Rockets bested the Komoka Kings 7-3 in an afternoon matchup at the Komoka Wellness Centre December 1st.
The Kings opened the scoring just under twelve minutes into the first period with a goal by Johannes Kalm. Assists went to Daymond Kindree and Nash Coffin.
The Rockets responded with two goals before the end of the period. The first was scored by Brendan Gerber, with assists from Denis Beley-Camara and William Hull. With less than two minutes left in the first, Nathan Schaap added to Strathroy’s lead.
The Kings opened scoring in the second when Jagan Chanderdat put the puck in the net at the 6:12 mark. Schaap and Gerber added to their scoring drive with goals midway through the second period. Owen Grey also scored for the Rockets in the final minute of the period.
The third period opened with another Kings goal. This time from Riley Alexander. But Gerber recorded his third goal of the afternoon at the 7:30 mark. Zach Vanderwal completed the scoring drive for the Rockets with a goal midway through the third period.
Both teams recorded a total of 40 shots on goal.
