SPORTS - It was a battle of the kings as the Komoka Kings took on the Elmira Sugar Kings at the Komoka Wellness Centre Saturday December 14th. The Sugar Kings blanked the Komoka Kings 11-0 fueled by a surge in the third period. Tempers flared in the final period with both teams racking up numerous penalties.
Komoka kept it close in the first, with the period ending with Elmira up by one goal. The Sugar Kings put the puck in the net three times in the second period, with two goals scored on the power play.
The remaining Sugar Kings goals were scored in the third, with most of them on the power play.
The Komoka Kings are currently sitting in last spot in the Western Conference, with St. Mary’s atop the standings. The Kings close out play in December on the 21s with a home game against the LaSalle Vipers. They’ll begin the new year on the road, with a match against the St. Mary’s Lincolns.
